Zach Berke
Founder and CEO

Zach Berke Zach is a serial entrepreneur who has spent the last 10 years building and working with tech startups around the world: from San Francisco to Vermont to Budapest, Kiev and New Delhi.

A San Francisco native, Zach graduated with High Honors from Dartmouth College with a major in Computational Science where he focused his energy pushing for greater collaboration between the computer science department and the rest of the scientific faculty.  Zach’s intellectual passion lies in area where computation meets large volumes of scientific data: genetics, proteomics, and functional brain imaging.  Zach received awards for his research in computational neuroscience as well as his pioneering work researching and pushing on the limits of large scale WiFi networking.

Before founding Exygy Zach co-founded Greenwave Wireless, worked as an IT Consultant for Onyx CRM and as a researcher in computational biology.

Zach is deeply involved in his community, as an AmeriCorps*VISTA program director with The Dream Program, as a teacher at EDUnix, and as a volunteer for SF TechConnect.

Zach has been a speaker and panelist at the Tuck School of Business (on advanced entrepreneurship), at The Symbian Exchange (on mobile web development), at SwANH InfoXChange (on mobile networking security), and in the Dartmouth College Cognitive Science Department (on fMRI data analysis techniques).

Dave Kaplan
User Experience Architect and Project Manager

Dave Kaplan

Dave is a Sr. Software Engineer and a UI/UX designer. Combining his University of California Berkeley Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science with his Masters in Interactive Multimedia Dave has a unique ability to take business requirements, turn them into functional requirements, understand the technical limitations and opportunities implied by all objectives, and then synthesize everything into a simple, unique, and elegant user experience. In addition to managing engineers and designing user experience, Dave also leads QA and usability analysis projects for exygy. He’s an integral part of the exygy team and a hugely valuable addition to any project.

Dave is an accomplished singer/songwriter with a passion for cooking spicy food. He makes a delicious green curry for which we recommend eating a lot of rice and bringing some extra handkerchiefs – he really loves Thai hot peppers.

Ryan Brownlow
Design and Prototype Lead

Ryan BrownlowRyan is a design magician. He takes a client’s vision and turns it into a design that live and breathes. He can take an old design or logo and turn it into a Web 2.0 work of art. Ryan works primarily in Illustrator/PhotoShop and hand written XHTML/CSS.

Ryan lives in Oakland but we try not to hold that against him. When he’s not designing you’re most likely to find him either jumping out of a plane or 130ft under water — he’s a competitive Skydiver and a hobbyist Scuba diver.

Zach Erbe
Project Manager and Database Architect

Zach Erbe

Zach has a background in database design, application development, data testing, and web analytics. Zach has managed the development of large social networks, search engines and business directory sites for exygy. Prior to joining exygy, Zach was responsible for the development of high traffic, public facing websites for the FORTUNE Magazine Business Leader Council. Zach also worked as an associate in the investment banking group of Sandler O’Neill + Partners in New York City.

Zach is an urban cyclist, a voracious reader, a tinkerer and a life-long learner. When he’s not managing the development of cutting edge web 2.0 products, you’ll find him in a park next to his bicycle, reading a book or jotting down notes in one of his many moleskine journals.

Sam Choi
Developer

Sam ChoiOne of Sam’s first projects with Exygy was to build an automated video capture and distribution system for AvidLip, an action sports video startup based in Lake Tahoe (a big winter resort area). We’re pretty sure the only reason Sam accepted the employment offer from Exygy was because the job description had the word “snowboarding” in it.  Amazingly, Sam is an even better software developer then he is a mogul rider. Sam recently redesigned his own brain to follow MVC architecture.

Sam is a San Francisco native of The Sunset district. He left the Bay Area for a few years to get a Computer Science degree from The University of California Santa Barbara, but his passion for the Giants and the Niners brought him back.

Anthony Grant
Art Director, Design and Flash development

Anthony Grant

Anthony is a designer and flash developer. Anthony specializes in bringing life to art and art to life. Anthony can turn a functional but dry piece of software into an engaging and visually pleasing web experience for users. Anthony creates, designs, illustrates, and animates Flash elements and short movies.

Anthony plays a role throughout the application development lifecycle. During the visual design and UX design phases Anthony provides artistic direction. During development Anthony implements Flash animations for demonstrating functionality and to supplement the UX by bringing subtle but engaging movement to the visual components.

When he’s not designing or illustrating, Anthony creates art for personal projects and exhibitions. Currently he has pieces traveling with the Propaganda III show. On the weekends Anthony moonlights as DJ Mr. Grant, spinning funk and hip-hop at a variety of San Francisco’s hippest clubs.
