About Exygy
Exygy has been building technology for the public good for more than 20 years. Founded in 2003 as an impact-focused technology agency, Exygy has delivered life-changing solutions for nonprofits, mission-driven organizations, and governments across the globe. Today, the company is focused on scaling Bloom Housing and CiviForm, two digital tools that help government teams better serve their communities. Our mission has remained the same from the start: to design and build user-centered technology that improves lives.
Bloom Housing is an open-source platform, built by Exygy, that helps governments and housing partners modernize access to affordable housing. By centralizing the housing search and application process into a single portal, Bloom simplifies how residents find and apply for affordable housing, while giving property managers and housing staff a unified way to manage listings, applications, and housing stock all in one place. Bloom currently supports affordable housing access across the 9 Bay Area counties, Detroit, and Los Angeles.
Job Overview
Exygy is seeking two enthusiastic and experienced Senior Full Stack Engineers who are passionate about building technology for social impact. One position will be embedded on our foundational housing project, San Francisco’s DAHLIA housing portal, working alongside San Francisco government employees to refine the portal, create new user experiences, and support the city’s affordable housing initiatives. The second position will join our open-source Bloom Housing platform team, working to expand affordable housing access across new jurisdictions.
The DAHLIA position is part of the “extended” Bloom Housing team, as DAHLIA served as the original foundation for Bloom. As an Exygy engineer embedded with the client team, you will spend the majority of your time directly collaborating with client stakeholders and actively participating in their team ceremonies. In this senior role, you will build strong relationships across both internal and external teams while setting a high standard of engineering excellence.
For the DAHLIA role, we value engineers who think deeply about the problem behind every ticket, identify potential issues early, and initiate conversations proactively. You will work across the full stack—primarily with React, Node.js, and Ruby on Rails. Beyond hands-on development, you will help craft technical documentation and contribute to architectural decisions in close collaboration with SF stakeholders. Curious about the DAHLIA codebase? Check out our open-source repository.
The second position focuses on the core Bloom Housing platform. Over the last decade, Bloom has evolved from an open-source framework into a comprehensive housing platform used by cities, counties, and regional housing partners. In this role, you will work across the stack to refine and scale the platform as we expand into new regions.
As a senior individual contributor within a tight-knit team, you will balance high-level architectural planning with hands-on execution and technical leadership. We value engineers who thrive across the stack and effectively communicate technical viewpoints through clear documentation and collaborative discussions. This position is full stack with a Node.js backend and a strong emphasis on modern front-end development in React. Curious about the Bloom Housing codebase? Explore our open-source repository.
Employment Terms
This is a full-time, remote, U.S.-based position. Both openings are term-limited and funding-contingent. The DAHLIA opening runs one year from the start date and is funded by a client contract. The Bloom opening runs through August 2027, aligned with the contract period of the program it supports. If a contract or grant behind an opening ends early, that position ends with it. Exygy anticipates hiring for this role subject to certain business contingencies, which may include funding approval, client contract finalization, confirmed business need, or other conditions identified during the hiring process or in the offer letter.
If a contingency affects the role before employment begins, Exygy may delay the start date, revise the role scope, or withdraw the offer. Candidates will be notified promptly of any material changes affecting the position. All employment decisions will be made in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local law and Exygy’s equal employment opportunity commitments.
