Founder & Managing Partner
Zach oversees Exygy's strategy, design, and engineering work. He serves as the account manager for clients such as Children’s Council, CARE, REDF, Benetech, and the SF Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development. Zach founded Exygy in 2004 with a vision: innovation and technology will accelerate progressive social change. This vision led Zach to build Exygy, the market leading innovation agency in the for-purpose sector. Zach wrote his first line of code at age six, designed his first website at 12, co-founded a non-profit at 18, graduated with High Honors at 22, completed his AmeriCorps*VISTA fellowship at 23, and then started Exygy. A Bay Area native and father of three, today Zach is dedicated to improving the health and resilience of his community.
Roshen is a Partner at Exygy with deep experience in leadership, change management, product management, and digital innovation. She has guided Exygy's top civic sector clients in implementing user centric and agile methodologies. Some of her clients include the Judicial Council of California, SF Unified School District, SF Committee on Information Technology, San Francisco Mayor's Office of Housing, Bay Area Rapid Transit, and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission. Prior to Exygy, Roshen was the COO and founding team member at a social venture incubator in North Carolina that supported over 150 companies. She also served a one year Americorps term at a community development corporation in Houston. Roshen holds a BA from Duke University where she was a Baldwin Scholar.
Eric Lam is a Partner at Exygy leading our Health practice. Eric has extensive experience successfully pushing innovative products to the finish line and leading agile transformations. Eric is currently an account and strategy partner for MedFinder, a vaccine-finder project with the Boston Children’s Hospital and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as the Provider Directory Utility for the Integrated Healthcare Association. He is also currently product managing our work with Qure Healthcare, the Global Flu View platform for Ending Pandemics (formerly known as the Skoll Global Threats Fund), and the e-learning platform with Philanthropy University. Prior to joining Exygy, Eric was an executive at Accenture where he led large and small-scale product development for international clients. He has held roles including Program Manager, Product Owner, and Agile Coach. Eric also spent three years running a non-profit that he founded, dedicated to organizing sustainable initiatives for a developing community in El Salvador. He’s a graduate of UCLA with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Senior Product Designer
Ana Bel is an experience-focused strategist. Ana Bel’s broad skillset includes design research, experience design, and data analytics. She has designed products for clients such as Stanford Earth, Philanthropy University, and Skoll Global Threats Fund (recently renamed Ending Pandemics). Ana Bel has worked in agile product development for 8 years, and as a product owner has helped to create a diverse range of digital products. Ana Bel has an MBA in Entrepreneurship and New Business Development and a Bachelor in Social Communications with concentration in Advertising and Publicity.
Chief of Staff
Rachael graduated Cum Laude from the University of Florida, and has worked in the social entrepreneurship sector for eight years. She loves people and works to understand needs through user research and interviews. Before Exygy, Rachael was a fellow with Motiis Innovation Lab in Mombasa, Kenya conducting market research and testing scalable business models, including leading a four month live market test of a mobile food company. Rachael is obsessed with scuba diving and dreams of one day swimming with a whaleshark.
A designer and educator, Wendy has more than 10 years of experience delivering design leadership in the context of human centered and agile projects. As the Lead Designer at Exygy, Wendy not only shapes the design strategy and vision for the team, but also leads our design work with clients such as the Integrated Healthcare Association, Philanthropy University, SF Unified School District, and the Judicial Council of California, Wendy has also worked on projects internationally and domestically. In Port Au Prince, Haiti, she collaborated on a call center which connected over 2000 women to legal and medical services. A former Code for America Fellow, she built a legislation app that increased civic engagement for the 450,000 residents in Arizona. Wendy has led 1500+ students towards design excellence, and strongly believes in the power of design to change the world for good.
Senior Application Engineer
Catherine is a full stack web developer who believes in using technology to empower and care for people. She has worked on some of Exygy’s largest, most complex projects including our work on DAHLIA with the SF Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development, Vital Signs with the Bay Area Metro (formerly known as MTC) and Children's Council. Prior to Exygy, Catherine spent five years building and managing web applications as a solo globetrotting freelancer. These days, Catherine spends her free time teaching herself machine learning, and rock climbing. She is fascinated/horrified by AI and thinks that if the robots are coming we should try to build them to be as chill as possible. Catherine holds a BA in Computer Science and Cognitive Science from UC Berkeley.
Chris has made it her lifelong mission to leverage technology to make our world the truest expression of compassion, connection and freedom. At Exygy, Chris is the lead engineer on our work with SF Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development, and has also worked on projects with Digital NYC, and REDF. Prior to Exygy, Chris engineered the product for Sparo.com — an e-commerce embedded application at the point-of-sale that seamlessly marries commerce and charity. She was also the founding engineer of Lighter.world, which makes sustainable, cruelty-free eating convenient and affordable. When Chris is not writing code, she’s either meditating, diving into the realms of esotericism, or vibing at the Boom Boom Room to live blues and funk music.
As a Front End Designer, Jesse is able to satisfy his curiosity for design systems by moving swiftly between experience design and front end development. At Exygy, Jesse has created design systems for SF Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development and SF Committee on Information Technology. Some of the other projects he has worked on include the Judicial Council of California, and the SF Unified School District. Before Exygy, he was the creative drive and Co-founder of Mister Machine where, he built agile human centered prototypes for world leading organizations. Jesse earned his MFA in Visual Art from the University of California San Diego. Before discovering tech, Jesse worked as an art fabricator, industrial designer and traditional woodworker and has a garage full of tools to prove it.
Alice is a UX designer with a multidisciplinary background in human-centered design and information technology. Alice is a designer on projects with the SF Unified School District, Children's Council, SF Mayor's Office of Housing and Community Development, Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), Boston Children's Hospital and more. She landed at Exygy straight out of university to pursue her life’s dream of using design thinking and collaboration to influence change and create effective yet efficient solutions. Her passion is empowering youth with the knowledge of an edible education. When Alice isn’t designing, you can find her working on illustrations, dreaming of noodles, and exploring the world by bicycle. Alice holds a BS in Informatics from the University of Washington, Seattle with a focus in Human-Computer Interaction.
Director of Delivery
As Director of Delivery at Exygy Michael combine a diverse set of skills to launch transformative products for our partners in the philanthropic and for-profit sectors. Drawing on extensive software engineering background, Michael lead cross-functional teams instrumental in the design, development, and deployment of web and mobile applications for health, financial, educational, and civic projects. Michael regularly draws on design thinking tools to foster innovation in complex organizations, enabling him to lead teams through the full cycle of product development from conception, to research, design, build, and scale. Michael has implemented Agile methodology in risk-averse organizations and has coached existing teams to be more collaborative and to build stronger products. Michael is inspired by the constant evolution of design and technology and believes that we either collaborate or die - this is how we design user centered solutions for human sized problems.
Business Growth Strategist
Aashna joins Exygy from the world of entrepreneurship and startups. During college, she founded Gleam, a health-tech startup that is on a mission to improve accessibility to quality behavioral health care in underserved communities. She moved from NYC to San Francisco to join the Exygy team, and continue using her business and leadership skills to leverage technology for social impact. Aashna drives business development at Exygy, helping develop partnerships with high impact organizations. Aashna graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Macaulay Honors College at the City College of New York, CUNY with a B.S. in computer science and a minor in psychology. She also has given a TEDx talk, ‘Life Without a License to Live.’ Aashna equally loves two very different hobbies: sitting down with a good book and a cup of coffee, and doing anything that will give her an adrenaline rush: skydiving, roller coasters, free-falls- you name it!
Senior Product Manager
Lucy is a senior product manager at Exygy. A former designer and consultant, Lucy is passionate about creating effortless experiences with meaningful impact. As a product manager at Exygy, Lucy aspires to use technology to empower individuals and communities to lead happy, healthy lives. She currently manages various projects with clients such as Boston Children’s Hospital, the Judicial Council of California, the Luksic Fellows Network, and the Greater Good Science Center at the University of Berkeley. Prior to joining Exygy, Lucy was a Advanced Customer Strategy Consultant at Accenture for four years where she led Product and Design teams to successful projects with global and Fortune 50 companies. Prior to consulting, Lucy spent 3 years in the social impact sector, serving as a Kiva Fellow while also advising on engagement strategies for nonprofits such as Junior Achievement and Pratham USA. Fascinated with history and culture, Lucy spends her time outside of work exploring places-less-travelled, learning to cook, and wandering through museums. She is a graduate of the Berkeley-Haas School of Business, with a focus on Entrepreneurship Technology.
Exygy's Marketing Associate, Anna is skilled in producing content, building campaigns, coordinating events, and managing data.
Anna supports the Exygy team in sharing the stories of our work, executing Account Based Marketing, shaping our digital marketing strategies, as well as driving our content, events, and market research efforts. Prior to Exygy, Anna was a Staff Sustainability Engagement Ambassador at Saint Mary's College of California where she organized and facilitated monthly educational seminars on sustainability for Saint Mary's staff, covering topics ranging from Consumerism to Food Politics. Anna earned her Bachelor's degree Justice, Community, and Leadership from Saint Mary's College, and studied Business, Management, and Marketing at IAU College in Aix en Provence, France.
