Proactively addressing systems of oppression and holding ourselves accountable to undo barriers that prevent our communities from thriving.

Our journey

In November 2020, Exygy partnered with the Justice Collective to identify the gaps between where our company currently stands and our equity values. Our team created a definition of equity for Exygy, set an equity vision, and identified measurable Objectives & Key Results to reach our vision over the next 3-5 years.

Our vision

We use design and technology to model ways of addressing historic systems of oppression, including racism, sexism, ableism, ageism, that lead to injustice.

We work with partners, community members, advisors, and advocates who hold us accountable to improve access to housing, social, and health services.

Our equity objectives

We are committed to sharing our ongoing journey towards achieving these objectives with our broader community to build transparency, encourage feedback, and hold ourselves accountable.

Team diversity and representation

Our team reflects the diverse communities we serve and is an inclusive workplace for all to thrive.

  • 100% of the team is aligned on a promotion/raise/review system that creates transparent and equitable opportunities for career advancement by the end of Q4 2021
  • 50% of our final interviews for each job opening, both contractors and employees, are with underrepresented people in tech, specifically Black, Indigenous, People of Color and disabled candidates, by the end of 2021.
  • By Q4 2022, each functional team creates at least one internship and/or associate-level role reserved for an individual from an underrepresented communities in tech, specifically the Black, Indigenous, People of Color and disabled community.
  • Directors and Partners at Exygy include 50% Black, Indigenous, People of Color and disabled representation and 50% gender-diverse, including women, transgender, and gender non-conforming representation by Q1 2023.

Accountability through transparency

Exygy is held accountable to living our values by our partners and community, through transparently sharing impact metrics for each product we create.

  • By Q4 2021, determine and pilot a method for how we quantify and try to increase the positive impact our projects, product, and services have towards a more equitable and just world for traditionally marginalized communities.
  • By Q4 2022, for each project, Exygy will implement a practice of surveying end users/communities who are impacted by our work, who are compensated for their participation.
  • By 2023, consistently communicate metrics publicly through blogs/newsletters/events before and alongside the project’s development so that we can own the progress, learnings, or shortfalls.

Community-driven design and development

Our products and services are community-driven and informed by deep, active, and authentic relationships with a diverse set of community members and leaders representing traditionally marginalized communities including Black, Indigenous, People of Color, LGBTQ+, and people with disabilities.

  • Formalize a preliminary network of community members and leaders who represent the communities we want to serve to set a benchmark for impact and to hold us accountable through feedback by Q4 of 2021.
  • Develop initial project management plan to engage with the community network consistently over time with allocated Exygy team staffing for management by Q2 2022.
  • Formally integrate the network of community members into our company's strategy, including metrics, staffing, budget, and outcomes scoped to the social impact & tech for good space by 2023.

Emboding community inclusion and empowerment

Our business model is aligned with our commitment to community inclusion and empowerment.

  • By end of 2022, 50% of Exygy’s business opps are aimed at solving/addressing inequities within communities.
  • By end of 2023, Exygy only contracts with clients that allocate resources towards marginalized communities, starting with Black, Indigenous, People of Color, LGBTQ+, people with disabilities, that their work impacts.
  • By the end of 2023, Exygy invests a profit margin benchmark that is set annually into historically underserved communities towards reparations and their future wealth building.
