Stanford Earth seeks to better understand the history and ecology of Earth and work towards creating a healthier future.
Stanford Web Services (SWS) manages hundreds of websites across Stanford University. In 2013 SWS had built a Drupal-based “jump start” kit, but by 2017 it had become dated and unwieldy. SWS identified the upcoming redesign of the Stanford Earth website as an opportunity to reinvent what a Stanford website could be - laying the foundation for the next decade of Stanford University on the web.
Exygy partnered with Stanford Earth to completely re-architect content and redesign their website. We then collaborated with Stanford Web Services to develop the Stanford Earth website, as well as a pattern library, and the foundation of a Drupal 8 theme that can be reused, built upon, and scaled across hundreds of websites.
Stanford Earth has a beautiful new website that is feature and content rich, easy to navigate, and easy to update and maintain. They are now able to easily create and modify pages within a framework that ensures that the site always renders to the end user across all devices. These updates have resonating results. Since the redesign, traffic on the Graduate Programs page has increased 420%. Traffic on the Undergraduate Experience page is up 170%, and visitors have doubled their time on the page - a sign that they are more interested in what it has to offer. Beyond Stanford Earth, the new Drupal 8 theme is the foundation upon which Stanford Web Services is now building future Stanford Websites.
